Today USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo announced 9 members of the 12 man Senior National Team that will represent the USA in London. They selected 5 members from the 2008 Gold Medal Bejing team aka “The Redeem Team”; Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Deron Williams. They also selected 4 members from the 2010 World Championship team; Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love, and Tyson Chandler. That is one hell of a basketball team already, the last 3 spots on the USA team will be fought for by Andre Iguodala, James Harden, Eric Gordon, Blake Griffin, Rudy Gay and Anthony Davis. This will be a great opportunity for some of the younger cats to get international exposure on the Olympic level with Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, Derrick Rose, and Lamar Odom all out with injury. We are going on record and predicting that Eric Gordon for his shooting ability, Blake Griffin because he is a big and the USA teams weak spot is bigs plus he’s Blake Griffin the fans want to see him, and James Harden will make the squad out of pure necessity, AI and Gay are both small forwards with Bron, Melo, and KD on the squad there are no minutes for them. Harden has a game that will translate well in international play plus he can spread the floor and shoot teams out of zones. Colangelo has assembled a good squad that should bring home the gold! Our only problem is that Colangelo won’t be allowing any of the select team members to try out for the 3 open slots. DeMarcus Cousins should be allowed to try out, the team could use more bigs and love him or hate him he is one of the top 5 centers in this league.
