Although the above image is probably one of the top 5 basketball moments of Dwayne Wade’s career and although he has the rare opportunity to win an NBA championship and an Olympic Gold medal in a four month span, D-Wade has made the solid business decision and opted out of the olympics. In all honesty it only makes sense, the team doesn’t need Wade to be successful and while his presence would be a welcome factor on the team there is no shortage of talent to make up for his absence. With Kobe, Lebron, KD, and Melo all suiting up the Gold Medal is hardly in question. Despite the solid post season numbers that Wade put up in their run to the title it was clear that he was never 100% it just so happened that his 80% is better than most players 110%. If he can get healthy this summer and come back full-speed for next season than missing out on his second gold medal could be trumped by winning his third NBA championship and cementing himself as possibly a top 5 shooting guard of all-time (An argument for another time), even without Wade we can’t wait for the dominance and high level play that the USA will bring to London in a month.
