Turn For The Worse: Tony Parker’s Eye

Posted by

Earlier this month we told you about Tony Parker’s eye injury in a New York nightclub. It was said at the time that it wouldn’t effect his status for the 2012 Olympics coming up in July. Apparently that status has changed, Parker had to have surgery to remove a shard of glass that penetrated 99% of his eye. The club is now on the hook for a 20 million dollar lawsuit that Parker has filed for getting injured while being an innocent by-stander during the Chris Brown and Drake bottle bash. This just sounds stupid, how in the world does he plan on getting $20 million from a club when unfortunately club-goer’s all over the world have seen a fight in the club. Sometimes people get hurt, but unfortunately you were the person who decided to attend the particular event. If every patron that got hurt in the club could sue then the majority of the clubs would be closed down. While we do understand the need for the clubs security to handle situations before they get out of control but can they really be expected to handle two groups of people who have their own security in the club with them? We can’t knock Tony’s hustle for suing as his potential loss with the eye injury is probably triple in one year what the majority of the club will make over their life time. Good luck to him with the lawsuit and more importantly his sight, let’s hope he can get back before the first game of the Olympics against the USA on July 29th.

  • Actually, it would depends on that city’s/state’s social host law. A club is responsible for and has a duty to providing a safe environment for its patrons. If it is found that the club was negligent in that responsibility or duty, then they could be culpable for any injuries. That being said, this lawsuit may not be as ridiculous as one would think.
